- P.E 2.2.1 the objective of the project:
The Australia Pacific LNG Project is a coal seam gas (CSG) to liquefied natural gas (LNG) project delivering a cleaner, greener sustainable energy source. Australia Pacific LNG is already the largest producer of CSG in Australia, supplying gas to power stations to produce lower emissions electricity; major industrial customers, homes and businesses in South East Queensland. The Project will see an increase in domestic gas production to further supply gas-fired power stations, major industrial customers and residents throughout Queensland.
P.E 2.2.2 the nature of my particular work area:
I was appointed as a QCQC Engineer and my responsibilities were;
Interpret or evaluate test results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, or procedures. Interpret the results of all methods of non-destructive testing (NDT) such as acoustic emission, electromagnetic, leak, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, neutron radiographic, radiographic, thermal or infrared, ultrasonic, vibration analysis, and visual testing.
Select, calibrate, or operate equipment used in the non-destructive testing (NDT) of products or materials. Make radiographic images to detect flaws in objects while leaving objects intact.
Identify defects in solid materials using ultrasonic testing techniques and prepare reports on non-destructive testing (NDT) results.
P.E 2.2.3 My contributions:
Duties carried out: I carried out together with my team mates Radiography on
Pipe walls metals of sizes 30 inches in diameter and of varied metal thickness.
Knowledge acquired: I learnt how to operate and work with the crawler machine (mobile gamma and x-ray camera), Gamma ray isotopes and film processor machine. I learnt film development by manual method.
P.E 2.3
Performed all daily inspection and test of the scope and character necessary to achieve the quality of construction required in the drawings and specifications for all works under the contract performed ON or OFF site. Carried out inspection and checking for all quality related procedures in the site and ensures activity at site are as per approved method statement and inspection test plan.
P.E 2.3.1
Coordinated with the consultant’s representative and Site En-charge for inspection and meeting about quality problems including closure of Non-Compliance Report. Reported to the QA/QC Manager, control and monitor all activities related to Quality the engineers duties & responsibilities. Management System, QMS.
P.E 2.3.2
Taking care of QA/QC documents of the entire project including certificates, calibration, test results, inspection requests, non-compliance reports and site instruction/observations, permanent materials delivered and other QA/QC documents. Responsible for closure of Non-conformance, NCR and Site Instruction, SI
Responsible in the quality and workmanship of every activities, thorough knowledge of all phases of engineering construction relating to Civil, Architectural and Structural discipline interfacing the multidisciplinary operations.
P.E 2.3.2
Developed method statement for the activity including risk assessment and job safety environmental analysis and Inspection Test Plan and Checklist based on specifications of the project. Carried out Internal Audit at site as scheduled in the Project Quality Plan, PQP. Liaise with the Technical Engineer for submission of material submittals to Consultant.
P.E 2.3.3
During the time I was given a good exposure about oil and gas. This induction training program which was coordinated and guided by highly experienced persons surely helped me in executing work in efficient manner. Even though there could be various reasons attributed to its success, the most important feature is the framework put into it by the management and its workers.
